My name is H. McCollom. I am a young woman who was born with right spastic hemiplegic cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and scoliosis. I have the use of only one hand. I was diagnosed with right hemiplegic cerebral palsy when I was nine months old. I was diagnosed with epilepsy at 2 years old. With scoliosis, I was diagnosed at 17 years old. It has been an obstacle living with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and scoliosis, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. It has made me into a strong, confident young woman. As a result, I became an advocate for each of these medical conditions and spread knowledge about them. I really enjoy doing this.
I’m entering a new place in my life becoming a new mommy to a beautiful baby girl, Crystiana Elise. I want to share my joys and challenges being a mother with physical limitations with everyone in hopes of encouraging and letting others know that your physical limitations DO NOT and SHOULD NOT hold you back in life. It is a guiding source to accomplish the things that you want to do. In addition, I will share with you other things that I do in my life and the experiences that I go through, good or bad.
I’ve always had this phrase that I used, and that being, uniquely beautiful. Every person with any particular medical condition is uniquely beautiful. We were created this way for a reason… because God knew we could handle any obstacles that life threw our way. We are capable of doing anything that we set our mind’s to. Live your dream and be happy while doing it.
